In The Heart of Schools in the Underserved Community in Northern Manhattan
Sports and Health in the City works toward academic success and creating self-confidence within the communities of color in the Northern parts of Manhattan. Using physical activities and nutritional awareness, we foster well-being for participants and their families through community empowerment and education.
Through our athletic programs, social engagement, healthy food knowledge and consumption we are able to positively impact our communities at the early stages of their development. Our vision is for participants to not only have access to a healthy positive lifestyle but an interest in and desire to share it with others as well.
Our aim is to have everyone that comes through our program leave with a positive sense of self, equipped to set and achieve their goals for the next stages of their lives. Our program allows participants the opportunity to receive Homework Help, Tutoring, Test Prep, Internship Opportunities, Advisement, and Work Readiness Skills. We also provide the opportunity to learn Baseball and Basketball skills through playing, training, and competing, as well as Dance and Yoga essentials through movement, choreography, and stretching. The programs are wrapped up nicely by our Health Workshops, which allow participants to explore snacks by creating and enjoying healthy food items together.
In addition to all the services offered by Sports and Health in the City, we have a division that supports student-athletes who play baseball called 5 Tool Player Development (5TP). With the Founders of each of these two organizations being brothers, thoughtful consideration and family orientation runs deep in all of our programs. Together, Sports and Health in the City and 5TP assist the leaders of tomorrow to become successful student-athletes, using education and information to empower participants at any stage of their youth.
